Have you been wondering about learning to sew?  This is the class for you.  Make a pullover top with sleeve variations.  Choose from a number of design options.  Learn pattern layout techniques, cutting, seams and seam finishes, darts, facings, and hemming.  Your sewing confidence will soar!  Suitable for beginners and beyond.  Use your own machine or one of ours.

Tools and Techniques for Sewers and Quilters

One 6 hour session

Saturday or Sunday

In this demonstration, discussion and hands on class, you will learn how to use the tools required and materials needed for sewing and quilting.  You will discuss machine use, feet, needles, thread, decorative stitches, seam allowances, fabric and batting choices.  Anne will provide tips on cutting and marking tools, mats, rulers, templates and you will practice using these.  Learn the importance of machine maintenance and see how it is done.  You will be sewing too!  This is the perfect class to get you confidently started on your sewing and/or quilting adventure.

Revitalize Your Wardrobe

Three 3 hour sessions

Do you have some favourite items that you want to renew?  Can you see the potential that thrift store purchases hold?  Learn how to modernize pants by changing their shape.  Revamp a skirt with a zipper opening.  Redesign by shortening or removing sleeves, changing a neckline, or by adding trim.  Bring two items to work on.  You will get lots of repurposing ideas, a plan for revitalizing/altering your garments, and sewing time.

It is warm and time for a wardrobe change.  Learn the ins and outs of dressmaking.  Choose your own pattern but make sure it has a zipper and facing(s).  We have pattern suggestions to give you some ideas.  See how to shape with darts, insert a zipper, face a neck or arm edge, and much, much more.  Dress it up or down and wear it with pride because you made it yourself.  Suitable for the confident beginner and beyond.
